Alejandra Okie-Holt, Managing Producer, Spanish Media Services
Alejandra oversees the development of Spanish-language content for One Economy’s media properties. She has worked extensively with farmworkers and the Latino community in the Southeastern US and indigenous and rural communities in Bolivia, Costa Rica and Honduras. Alejandra's work has focused on economic development and the creation of culturally and linguistically appropriate education programs and materials. She has worked as a freelance translator for numerous non-profit organizations since 1994.
Alejandra was the Secretary of the Board of the Highlander Research and Education Center, a founding board member of the Latino Community Credit Union and a board member of El Pueblo, Inc. Alejandra holds a Certificate in Nonprofit Management and a Certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language from Duke University. She has a BA in Latin American Studies and Sustainable Development and an MS in Community Forestry. She is a contributing author of The Human Cost of Food: Farmworkers' Lives, Labor and Advocacy, published by the University of Texas at Austin.
