Christina Hawkins
A lifelong resident of California, Christina was born in Long Beach and studied at the University of California, Berkeley. She earned high honors and high distinction with her BA in Geography in May 2007. During her college years, she turned her passion for international development into action by going abroad five times in order to experience cultures and issues for herself. She spent one week in Mexico exploring immigration and human rights problems, two weeks in Ecuador working with a women’s dairy cooperative, one month in South Africa learning about history and culture, two months in Bolivia volunteering with an HIV/AIDS prevention organization, and one semester in Russia studying and conducting research for her thesis about post-Soviet immigration.
Christina joined the One Economy team in January 2008 as a project assistant and is pleased to have this opportunity to make a difference in her own community. Her duties include supporting California programs, especially those of the Los Angeles team. She speaks Spanish and Russian.
